Carter walked onto the grounds of St. Havier Academy. He didn't know why he was going here: he was no preppy, private school going kind of kid. His aunt insisted that this would be a good move for him, help him meet the right kind of people, have good influences, blah, blah, blah. Yeah, right. He didn't really care. He had to, if he wanted to keep a roof over his head, that is. After his mother killled her abusive husband and gone to jail, Carter had been on the run. This was his last hope for a haven, and he really didn't want to mess it up. If it meant going to a private school, so be it. Lots of kids would kill to be in his position, he imagined. He shook his head, and cleared his thoughts. I just hope I don't have to wear a stupid uniform, he realized. He hated uniforms. They were itchy and claustrophobic, and made you feel like you were in prision. He glanced down at his blue t-shirt, jeans, and gray sneakers. Maybe I'll blend in. Who knows, maybe I'll actually make some friends, he hoped. He sighed, and continued onwards towards the building. Or this could be a horrible disaster, he decided.

((Well, before they remove it, here be your friendly little freaky, Perrin!))
He blinked in the light. Perrin hated the idea of school. It belonged in the same category as chores. Perrin rolled his eyes at the academy, whilst one hand pushed back a lock of raven hair. He really couldn't believe how he'd ended up here. How his mother must be proud. How this school must be blind. To see that he would ever end up somewhere nice like here. Perrin rolled his eyes and walked towards the entrance, well, that is to say, "shuffled". It didn't constitute for a walk, the reluctant gait at which he proceeded. Perrin glanced down at his faded blue jeans and hoodie, which "Fang - The Musical" emblazoned across the back. A pair of brand new sneaker poked out from under his jeans, clean and shiny they looked out of place. Smiling absentmindedly, Perrin cast his eye around, careful to avoid showing the gold imbued pair of eyes he sported. He spotted an older looking boy off to the left, dressed similarily to him. Eyes narrowing, Perrin approached, subconsciously lowering his body posture like a stalking animal, and walked up to the boy's shoulder, and coughed politely.

ooc: Well, if people reply, the thread stays.
bic: Carter was still lost in his flashback, constanly seeing the execution of his father by his mother. It wasn't something he wanted to see. He ws so lost, that he was startled by the cough of the boy behind him. "Ah!" he yelled, as his heart raced. He turned around and accidently smacked him in the head. He recoiled back defensively, before getting himself back under control. "I am so sorry," he apologized, but still keeping his guard up. When he had whirled around, he had noticed the other boy's eyes. They were golden colored. That to him screamed unusual. In fact, now that he thought about it, this whole town screamed unusual. Maybe he could start getting some answers. Maybe he could start to fit in somewhere for once in his pathetic life. Maybe he could distract himself enough to stop having nightmares about yelling, beating, and shooting. He got out of his defensive position, but stayed tense just in case. Then, shotting a fake smile, eh held out his hand and said, "My name's Carter."

Perrin took a precautionary step back, barely missing the flailing hand. He blinked, ebony hair flicking back. He just caught the other by's words and a half-smile played on his lips and he shrugged absentmindedly. These few seconds gave him the chance to observe the other boy's appearence. Good, casually dressed, he noted the jeans, sneakers and t-shirt. At least he wasn't the only one wering no uniform. Perrin hoped there wasn't uniform. He would probably burn it or somehow destroy it if he had to wear some. He might actually die under the constricting stiff lapels of a starched uniformed shirt. Carter. A pleasant name to one's ears which are usually filled with the rasping snarls of an earthbound pack. Perrin took an immediate liking to it and deigned to reply. "The name's Perrin," he replied, his voice retaining its traditional mid-Europe tones with a hint of elements of Transylvanian playing in the background. He took the proffered hand and shook it gently. He registered Carter's seemingly tense stance, and adopted a relaxed one of his own. It was probably my stupid instinct, he thought, always kicking in at the wrong moment. His instinct had a habit of rearing its primeval head whenever he decided to aproach someone new. No wonder you ain't got not friends, sunny Vim.((Sunny Vim is the same as Sunny Jim - a so-called popular phrase - with a slight accent ))

Carter finished the handshake, and put his hands in his pockets. Those who knew him knew that this meant he was nervous. But to others it could mean he was just fine. There was something about this kid that made him nervous, yet at the same time it made him feel comfortable. Like the were someone he could actually get along with in this town. Now that he was calmed down, he was taking Perrin's appearance. He was dressed similiar to him, except for his shoes. They looked brand new and very well taken care of. It was obvious he cared for them deeply. He also took in his facial exprssions. He could just ell what he was thinking, or at least some of it. Carter knew nothing about werewolves, even though he knew something was wrong. "I know what your thinking," he started. "It's not your fault, it's mine. I was lost in my thoughts, and when you startled me, I just reacted. I'm sorry." He tried to keep himself calm, but it wasn't easy. By now, he was so worried about the Perrin thinking of him badly. It just shows how desperate he was for a friend. And how desperate he was for answers.
ooc: By the way, awesome sigge!

Perrin smiled slightly, not too wide ( Blasted canines, he thought) and nodded. It was easly understandable that anyone could be startled, like animals for example. "Its fine," he replied cordially, tucking back a stray strand of hair. Big mistake, BIG MISTAKE! something in his head screamed and he quickly flicked the ebony lock back over his face, his pale complexion tinging red slightly. Perrin silently cursed his own stupidness, he should know by now! He composed himself and went back to strained conversation with Carter. At least, it felt strained. That smile had seemed forced, but Perrin wasn't bothered. As long as he was talking to someone. "So....you new to this school too?" he asked, averting his piercing gold eyes to the building in question. Ooc: Thankies!

Carter tried not to laugh as Perrin freaked himself out. Sure, the gold eyes had freaked Carter out at first, but now they fit the other boy perfectly. It was hard to understand why. "Hey, don't worry about the eyes," Carter reassured him. "They don't bother me." He was beginning to befriend the other boy. The smile wasn't forced anymore. It was one of relief, of finding someone he'd get along. "Yeah, I'm new here," he answered. "My aunt seems to think it'd be a good influence for me. She doesn't want me to end up like... like.... like my dad." He stammered at the end, once again being assaulted with images of fighting and screams. His heart raced, his eyes watered up, and his face tightened in an expression of pure horror. Once he regained control, he assured, "I will never end up like him. Never as long as I live." He took a deep breath, and calmed himself down. He wiped his arm across his eyes, drying them. "Anyways, so, what about you?," he asked, changing the subject. Why do you have gold eyes? I won't tell anyone, if you don't want me to. Trust me, I can keep a secret." I kept one for 15 years, he thought.

Crud. Perrin cursed himself silently again. He noticed. I need to grow my hair longer. Perrin wiped his face of expression, except his smile. Carter's smile was becming more relaxed, he noted, always a good sign when talking to someone. It denoted trust fro the persona. He allowed his smile to widen slightly, but almost lost it when the other boy mentioned his eyes. BIIIG cruders, he thought and almost forgot to reply.
"Ah heh," Perrin said, not quite sure how to word it. What the heck could he say? He couldn't actually tell anyone truely, he would most ertainly be frickin' killed for that. Especially if they were human. He continued," I dont really know, they've always been that colour. It runs in my family." It came out awkwardly, and Perrin knew Carter wouldn't believe a word of it, but he couldn't tell him out right here. I'll tell him some day, Perrin resolved, if that some day has a chance to come.

Carter wasn't fooled for a moment. He knew that Perrin was telling the truth, but not the whole truth. That can only mean one thing, he realized. "I see," he said. "In other words, you'd tell me, but you'd probably have to kill me?" What could that mean then? he wondered. He kept studying Perrin, desperately trying to figure it out. The only thing he could think of was that book his aunt had been reading, said it was all the rage. Twilight it was called. It was a romance involving vampires and werewolves... No, it can't be! Can it? he realized. His eyes widened in realizitation. He studied Perrin again, incredously. The other teen didn't have fangs. But the eyes. The golden lupine eyes. And the wolf habitat out of twon, that was forbidden from human entrance. He fell backwards in shcok. "Are there any local myths involving werewolves?" he asked, condemning himself without realizing it.

I have to kill you now, don't I. I have to take you to a dark room and slit your rather knowledgable throat, don't I? The shame.... Strange, unconnected thoughts ran through Perrin's head. They mostly consisted of the same thing, but with different views. If this gets out, I'm crowfood, he thought. Thankfully he had enough emotive control not to let his surprise and guilt show on his face. I really need to some contacts that change the colour of your eyes, he mused. His slitted, cat-like eyes followed Carter's own, narrowing stealthily as he watched Carter take a slight step back. That was the usual effect of realisation, he knew well. At least it didn't happen often.
Perrin barely heard what Carter said next, but guessed from his expression that he had heard of that misconceptional dysfunctional yet slightly correct mythologically speaking obsenity of a book Twilight. Perrin didn't much like Twilight. It spent too much time talking about how shiny Edward Cullen was.
"Yeees," Perrin replied carefully, not sure whether to lace his speech with sarcasm or not. He left it out in the end.

Why do I not like that look on his face? he wondered to himself. Smooth it over. Don't let him think you know? "I was just wondering, that's all," he started. "There's the wolf habitat outside of town, and I figured their'd be local legends about werewolves from it. I like to know the local legends, you , for conversational purposes." He hated what he knew he had to say next, "Not that anyone'd ever believe in them, right?" He felt better adding that at the end. He guessed that Perrin had to protect the secret, and he just had to someone end up with. Am I just born to die or something? he wondered. I mean I get born into a broken family that would end up with me dead. I have to run for my life, and now I run into a werewolf that has to kill me since I disovered his secret! Can't I get a break? He decided to change the subject. "Any good movies coming out lately? I haven't been up on the previews lately. I haven't watched T.V. in quite a while." His chest tightened up, as he thought of it again. Why does it keep coming up? he wondered.
"It all started just a few weeks ago. Actually, it started 15 years ago. I was two years old. My dad got drunk one night and started beating up my mom. Eventually, it started with or without alchohol. It kept going for 15 years. I kept silent about it, afraid of what would happen. One night, my dad picked a new victime. Me." He recalled the night perfectly. You could see the fear in his eyes as he reimagined his dad coming for him.
"My mom got to him first. He attacked my mom, and she fell into the bedside table, just as she planned. In the drawer was a gun. She got it out, and shot my dad. He died. The police sirencs were heading toward our house. My mom told me to go upstairs and throw some clothes in a bag, and run. Run far away. She couldn't stand the thought of me in the hands of Child Services."
"I kept running. I stole what I needed to live, and stayed out of sight. I eventually ended up here. My aunt lives here, so I knew I could live somehow. She doesn't ask any questions. She just somehow knew. She does the best to take care of me and raise me right."
He shook himself then realized what happened. "I'm sorry for dumping that on you. I just couldn't handle keeping it to myself anymore. You don't have to tell me your story if you don't want to." Or can't, he thought.

Perrin's eyes widened slightly, puils delating. He could almost feel his pale cheecks burning as Carter carried on. He sensed it wasn't the boy's fault, he obviously needed to get it off his chest. Mind you, the lupine part of his brain muttered surrepticiously, I need to get something off of my metaphorical chest. I'm hungry! To justify this statement, his stomache growled slightly. Shut up, retorted the decidedly human part of his brain, we have company. Oh, how he hated the split personality that resided in his skull. It really gave him a headache at times.
The sort of speech ended and Perrin hadn't moved anything except for his eyes through the entire way. He absorbed every detail, storing it for later use. It could become usefull. Perrin immedaitely felt sorry for Carter, his life must have been hard. But not as hard as ours in a freezing winter storm with only our summer pelt to please us!
"I-I dont really know how to explain it to you," he finally gathered himself to say. "Its complicated."
