Claire suddenly felt the beauty of power rush over her bodice, but she didn't enjoy it. As she ran she shook her fur, attempting to break it off. Break of the leadership. She loved leading them, but didn't want to feel more powerful. She didn't like ranking, she liked the pack to be one. Just one. Her paws indented the grass and she could hear it ripple back up behind them all, trying to revive itself. She liked the feeling of a pack, and this one would be strong. And beautiful. Rare. Like an Eclipse. She smirked slyly, that's what they would be called. Her face became serious again, preparing for the hunt. She could see caribou in the distance. Blotches of brown upon the thick white mist and snow, she focused her eyes. 3, there were three of them. One large male, that's what they would go for. She barked and motioned toward the male, telling them that's what they would go for. A quick breeze pushed her backward slowing her down, she just ran harder. The meal reflected in her eyes, completely drained in the thought of a meal. They were close now. She whispered, "Stop." She slid to a stop, her fur bounced, "Zeek you go to the left, Garrett to the right. I'll distract." A somewhat evil smile appeared across her mull, she didn't even attempt to look at them ... just the meal. She had always been like this, always a different wolf while hunting. Still a mystery. She waited for them to take their places, her head sunk between her shoulders as her hackles raised. OOC: One of you guys can mod this one, pick a number 1 - 10. I got one written down, pinky promise. XD

Zeek had hunted before, he knew how this usually went...but he had never really hunted in a pack before, nor did he ever hunt something as large as the caribou were. Especially the one that Claire picked out; the male. He could not quite anticipate the taste of the meat, since he had never actually tasted it, but his mouth watered nonetheless. He said nothing, he didn't even bother responding to the female wolf. Although...she did seem a little different then she had earlier.
He had eyes only for the meal at hand though..it was all he could afford to have. Anything more would risk the chance of the prey escaping. He did as he was told and took off to the left, his paws swishing ever so quietly against the white surface beneath him. He sneaked toward the left side of the male caribou, waiting for Clair's lead so that he would charge at the beast. His tail was nearly pointing straight backward behind him, much like a pointer dog's would. His senses were taxed as he stretched them as far as they would go, his nose taking in the musky scent of the caribou they were hunting.
His tongue ran across his lips as he savored what the caribou would taste like.

Garrett came to a halt beside Claire. He had smelt the caribou a while ago but hadnt mentioned it. It was Claire's hunt not his. So he waited for her to make the first move at the caribou so they could all ambush it and get it over with so they could eat. She gave out instructions. Zeek was to go to the left, I was to go to the right while she distracted him. So he went off and headed to the right. He made as little sound as possible and headed around to his post on the right of the caribou. And so he waited for Claire to carry out her side of the plan and licked his lips. Yummy. Its going to be tasty.

Her eyes stayed pinned to the male. She watched each little movement it made. It's breathing, it's muscles pulsing, the veins in its eyes. She had always loved the taste of eyes, the texture, the smell. Her paws brought her forward, her tail pinned to her rump as her hackles raised even more. They swayed in the wind, she looked much larger than she intended to. She just couldn't help it, instinct had now got the worse of her. A growl penetrated her throat, it evolved into a thick snarl. Her teeth began to show, one by one. They shone in the moonlight, her gums soon followed. She licked her teeth as if she were polishing them for the meal soon to come. Her pace went to a sprint and she skidded to a halt in front of the male. She barked at him threateningly. It was a bark of power, of hunger, of evil. Her forearms hit the ground very hard and her tail began to wag. She could see the fear in his eyes now, though she continued to bark. Struggling to hold herself back from penetrating its thick, juicy skin. She jumped back and forth and kept barking. Then she barked to each side of her, her eyes though stayed pinned to the beast ready to defend herself if it decided to attack. If the boys didn't come now, she was no doubt done for. OOC: K Eric, now for you to mod.

At Claire's signal, Zeek ran froward, his paws moving easily and quickly across the top layer of the snow. He was gaining speed so that he could attack their prey. When he arrived upon where Claire was accosting the caribou, he changed his direction somewhat so that he was aiming for the side of the animal. He leaped when he got within a few feet, hoping to get a hold onto the top of the caribou's back with his teeth or claws and then get a bite onto the back of it's neck.
He snarled as he leaped, although some part of him was worried for Claire, the majority of his thoughts were on the meal at hand.

Garrett at the same time as Zeek dashed across the gap between him and the caribou. He covered the gap easily in about the same time as Zeek. But he hadnt seen that Zeek had leaped and was heading for the same spot as Zeek, which wasnt good. He leaped through the air and then he finally noticed Zeek. Uh-oh. There was nothing he could do now, just sort of try to attack the caribou and brace himself for impact at the same time.
OOC:I am not making this easy for you guys. Hehe.
IC: .::The caribou was immediately alert hearing Claires growl, yet it wasnt sure if it was imagining things or not. The caribou confirmed he wasnt imagining things as soon as Claire came. Claires barking wasnt helping at all. It made the caribou's actions become controlled by fear. Then Zeek came along with Garrett, making him more afraid then before. They both leaped from both sides, and collided but Zeek had jumped a split second before Garrett and had made a deep gash in the caribou's side, and Garrett missed everything horribly. They collided to the ground and the caribou finally went berserk. It went on a rampage bucking every which way and that, and striking Claire in the ribs with possible breakage. But it wasnt very smart so it held its ground still bucking about. Then it noticed everyone on the ground and got a little confused and stood there puzzled, like an idiot. Now is your chance::.

From Claire, a yelp is to be expected. But she held back, with struggle. She felt the sharp thrust dig into her, there was no doubt in her mind that she heard a few ribs break. She would bare through it, it would be worth it. Slowly she picked herself up and snarled ferociously, if the guys were not intimidated by her before, there was no doubt they had to be now. She didn't care, at all. She wanted this buck dead. As she got up her body shook roughly with anger, her blood boiled inside of her. Some of it succeeded at breaking free of her body, leaving a trail behind her. She growled louder. Her muscles pulsed drastically as she rushed her body forward into a sprint. Her legs tensed as she pushed all of her weight off of the ground. It might have been the dumbest move she's ever made, but she wanted it. She went straight for the face ... her jaw shook with evil.
OOC: Nice!

Zeek tumbled to the ground soon after making contact with both the caribou and the other male wolf. He snarled as he got back up to his paws again, shaking his head and trying to clear away the dizzy feeling that had come over him. He knew that he had no time to recuperate, he needed to help out Claire. He saw her go straight for the caribou's face, which shocked him as he also saw that she was wounded. He could see the blood staining the white snow behind her, but he only glanced at it for a millisecond before leaping himself, going for the back once again. If Claire failed in her recent attempt...it would not be good, of that Zeek was certain. He had only to try and do his best so that she could have a good shot in bringing down the caribou.
She seemed so different from the Claire he had seen only moments before...

Garrett laid there for a second still in a daze. He felt a little dizzy as he got up, the impact helped with that. He saw that both Claire and Zeek had leaped through the air going for different areas, Claire went for the face as Zeek went for the back. But something was wrong with Claire. She had been wounded and it looked as if she had broken a few ribs. This was not good as if she took another hit she might not make it. Garrett had to do something to help. He snapped back to reality and thought for a split second of what to go for. The beast was planted firm on the ground. The leg. So he carried out his idea and leaped toward the leg jaws open ready to latch on.
.::The caribou still confused did not notice Claire or Zeek get up to attack. Claire landed straight on his face and lashed out across the caribou's eye blinding it. Zeek then latched straight onto the buck's back and dug in deep hoping to weaken it. Garrett's attempt wasnt very succesful. He did get to his target and managed to crack the caribou's leg bone but then the buck again started bucking and Garrett into a tree. He was for sure knocked out therefore out of the hunt. The caribou now blinded started bucking wildly throwing Claire off the beasts face. She was almost smashed by the caribou's hoof but she moved out of the way just in time. For Zeek it wasnt as good. The buck flailed wildly and Zeek helplessly slid off, but he still managed to dig his claws into the caribou so as he slid off the caribou got three deep gashs running down to where Zeek could not hold on any longer. He began his fall to the ground but the was hit straight in the stomach by the caribou knocking him away. He was badly wounded. But so was the buck. The buck finally fell to the ground from his wounds and exaustion. All that was needed was the final blow and it would be a successful hunt. But was it worth it::.

Claire hit the ground, her eyes quickly went to the buck. Dead. Her blood finally cooled as she stayed there on the nice cold snow, she gradually sunk in further. She lifted her head up and looked at her ribs. There was a lot of blood now, probably due to all of the adrenaline and major movement. But she couldn't care about herself right now, it wasn't even possible. She took a deep breath as the evil slipped right through her nostrils. Carefully she stood up and looked for the other two, that was quite a hunt. Probably the most exciting she's had for awhile. But she felt terrible for them getting hurt, she didn't know why she had to have the male in the first place. Then again, when she got like that she couldn't help it. At all. Zeek was most likely passed out, and Garrett definitely was. He needed the most help. Somehow she quickly brought herself over to him and nudged him gently on the neck with her muzzle. She licked his eyes in hope that they would open. Her eyes then traveled back to Zeek, but she knew she couldn't run anymore. She softly barked to get his attention. [/sub]

Zeek didn't know quite what had hit him. All he remembered was losing his grip on the caribou and then he blanked out. He was several feet away from the now dead beast, and he felt horrible. It had been a successful hunt...but there was a cost. He clenched his eyes shut as the full impact of the hit that he took settled in. He had been numb for a few seconds, mostly from shock, but now the pain came to him. He could taste blood in his maw, and it wasn't the caribou's. He knew that he would live, but that had not been a nice wound to receive. Zeek groaned quietly, not yet registering what happened to the others, his own pain overcoming the sense of the world around him. His muscles wouldn't respond to him and he was shaking slightly. He choked a little as his diaphragm was temporarily paralyzed from the blow. He now was breathing in deep gulps of air as he was finally able to take in oxygen again.
Once he was able to do that, he opened his eyes again, the pain waning in and out. He looked first at the caribou, which was dead. He then lifted his head off of the white surface beneath him, a few drops of snow falling from the side of his muzzle and ear. His fur was damp from both sweat and the snow.
He looked to the other two, trying to see their condition. It seemed that Garrett was down...and he wasn't getting back up. Clair, on the other hand, was up and checking on Garrett. She seemed no more wounded then she had been, which was good... But no wounds were preferred.
He heard Clair's bark and despite himself, his pain and soreness all over, he got up and walked haphazardly over to the female wolf. He would obey her even if she didn't like it. He would do it until she told him not to. Even if he was lucky enough to become her mate, he would still do it. That thought brought a grim smile to his muzzle which soon faded as he got over to Garrett. He stared down at the other wolf with worry. Worry for not only Garrett, but for the rest of them as well. They had sacrificed a lot only for a meal.

Oww, that one hurt. Garrett slowly opened his eyes to find that Claire was standing over him. Then slowly after Claire had barked for Zeek to come over he showed up over him to. They both had worry in their eyes. Garrett slowly lifted his head up only to find that it was sent back to the ground. All that he saw was the buck on the ground. Success. Well at least for that part but was it all worth it? It didnt matter now. They had done it and it was over with. A smile came to his face as he now realized how much these wolves actually cared for him. He hadnt had that happen often. In fact it rarely ever happened to him. Garrett slowly tried again to lift his head up only to fail again. He was hurt pretty badly. Garrett was only for sure about one thing. His head hurt very bad. Which after something like this wasnt very good. He wasnt sure but he thought it may have been cracked. Also his mouth was soaked with blood. He could feel it now overflowing and dripping down his muzzle. Garrett quickly spit it all out only to find he coughed more up. This wasnt good. Hmmm, I am having second thoughts on if this was a good idea or not. But I have to try to get up. I have to be strong. And so his mind was set to it. He slowly raised his head up and then flipped his body over onto his stomach. Bad move. Agonizing pain shot through him. His ribs had also been damaged as well as his head and much of his back. Thing werent looking so good. He yelped from the horrid pain, but kept to his motives and stayed there. The pain slowly died away as he got used to it. Then he looked over to Claire and then to Zeek, and then back to Claire. She was hurt very badly also. "Are you guys ok?" Garrett asked in somewhat of a whisper. Actual it was quite pathetic to even be called a whisper. He hoped that they had heard him. Garrett felt more blood rushing to his mouth and spit it out again. So he began to tend to his wounds. Garrett looked down to his stomach and saw that it was blood stained to. He began licking and biting at his fur to get the stains out. This is going to take a while.

OOC: Idea! What if Claire runs away?
Claire's eyes squinted as she watched Eric, she thought that maybe he was worse than her. He had to be, he wasn't a wimp. She shook her head at herself and looked to the ground. Her mind tangled and her temples began to hurt, really badly. She didn't know why she wanted that buck. But somehow she couldn't help it, at all. It was as if something else had taken over her, something she couldn't control. And it felt like it wanted more, but there was a point where she had to bring it down a notch. It just kept giving her thoughts of humans, each image making her cringe.
That could have been part of why she was so angry, she was in pain too. She saw the blood coming from her abdomen still. She didn't care, not anymore. She slightly wanted it to keep coming, they didn't deserve her idiocy. Not at all. They came here looking for a great leader, and she was disgusted with herself. She wanted to run away, far away from here.
She scooted herself over to Eric and gently licked him on the cheek, "I'm sorry for my idiocy." Then her eyes traveled to Zeek, and her eyes filled with pain as they squinted to keep the tears in. She was strong, she had to be.
She lifted her haunches off of the ground and walked to the hill, the clearing. It was a steep hill that looked over their land. It was truly beautiful, she knew that somethings had to be in order to make up for the ugliness on this planet. She sat down and debated whether or not she should leave, leave these wolves to peace. This was all her fault, and she knew it. She didn't want to face the face but really, she had no choice. She thought that this pack would never be strong again, or listen to her again. She wanted to become an omega, someone they could pick on when they were angry. Yes, that's what I want. But she wouldn't speak, her words would be too tangled at the time. [/sub]
